Kedai Makanan & Minuman Tri-Senses

Haha! Because of the review in the newspaper, I was tempted to this Kedai Makanan and Minuman Tri-Senses to try the pumpkin bubur chacha.

The restaurant is located in Taman Permas Indah, Johor Bahru.

The interior is colourful but looks like a kiddy classroom or pediatric clinic. Weird!

The lotus leaf glutinous rice was disappointing.

The pumpkin bubur chacha was OK, not overly sweet but not really fantastic.

Ji Wo Bao

Do you know what is this? This is called Ji Wo Bao(鸡窝包).Steamed beehive-shaped bun with a delicious filling of glutinous rice, mushroom, veggies and chicken. It is a hybrid of lor mai kai(糯米鸡)and big bao(大包). A new and creative bun of Malaysian innovation. What does it tastes like? Well, it is like eating lor mai kai and big bao at the same time.

You can read more about it in 知食份子:從糯米雞到雞窩包. My breakfast today!

Dome, KLCC

At Liza's recommendation, Azam and I went to say the movie Avatar last Sunday. Liza said she watched the movie twice, once in 2D and another time in 3D. After sending her off in Sentral, we went straight to Mid Valley hoping to catch the 3pm show in The Gardens. The traffic in Mid Valley is notoriously jammed in the weekend. All car parks were full and there were long queue of cars waiting along the road outside. Even valet parking services were full. I think there are two places in KL that you should really avoid going to unless necessary in the weekend. One is Mid Valley and the other is The Curve. After we valet parked the car, we went straight to the cinema only to find that all tickets were sold out.

Not giving up easily, we managed to get two tickets for the 9:00pm show in Suria KLCC. After securing two tickets, we went home for afternoon nap.

We reached KLCC at around 8:15pm. We had only less than 45 minutes for dinner

KLCC is currently decorated with giant red lantern. Chinese New Year coming soon!

On my way taking the escalator up, I saw this HyperReal LED TV being used as an animated Chinese sumie style painting. Quite interesting.

We went to the Australian franchise, Dome, which is located right in front of KLCC to catch a quick bite before going to see the show.

Guess what I ordered? This is not a French soap. This is actually chicken pie that Dome is famous for.

Chicken in creamy mushroom inside.

A cup of black coffee.

If you are weight conscious, you can order a bowl of Caesar Salad. Not bad too.

Avatar!

Before you enter the cinema, this post give a warning against video recording the movie using handphone or video recorder.

Wanted to buy some pop corn, but the kiosk was crowded with people. The movie is about to start!

You can always buy popcorn once you get inside.

Do I look 3D?

Kuching Three Layer Tea

Gee! Do you know that the latest craze in Malaysian drink is kuching three layer tea? This tea which originates from Kuching, Sarawak comes in 3 layers. At the top is a layer of tea, in the middle is a layer of evaporated milk and at the bottom is a layer of gula melaka or sometimes caramel syrup. This tea is so famous that there is a website dedicated to it. The website is know as tehCpeng.net.

The drink is sold now even in The Chicken Rice Shop which I had my lunch last Sunday in Sentral when I sent Liza off on a flight back to Penang.

Actually, I first tasted Kuching Three Layer Tea in a nasi kandar restaurant Original Kayu near Ampang Point. I was there again last Sunday midnight after watching Avatar 3D. Just wanted to have a drink before going home to sleep.

There is this roti canai tiga rasa in this nasi kandar restaurant too. The roti prata came with kaya, margarine and also curry or dhal. A bit weird considering the roti is sweet.

Even the plate has Original Kaya logo. This restaurant was established since 1974. 1974? Is that a long a time ago? Mine! I am getting old.

Alternatively, you can try their super crispy tosei rawa. Not me! I prefer my tosei soft.
